What We Do

MPI helps to bridge the gaps between those that have been involved in the Justice System and our local community.  With the help of our wonderful partners we explain and make accessible some of the much needed resources that will enable continued success.

Why We Do It

Understanding the many barriers that those have been involved in the Justice System encounter - and the fact that it could happen to anyone - we want to see people regain hope and move towards a productive and positive future.  That not only impacts our participants but also those in their immediate circle.

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to directly reduce the ever-growing rate of Recidivism by providing a strong and stable support system that will help to redirect Juveniles/Youth that have unfortunately found themselves entangled with the judicial system toward a path of purpose and productivity.

We fulfill our mission by providing an environment conducive to learning and positive change.  With the help of our various partners, we are able to walk with our population along their journey, redirecting them away from illegal activities and provide them with the tools needed to make wiser choices and better handle themselves at home, at school and within their community.

Our Story

Mephibosheth Project Inc, (MPI) began as an inner vision within the heart of our Founder and Executive Director, Rev. Marvin R. Alexander, (aka Pastor A.), in 2007. The reality of not having a sound relationship with his biological father directly influenced how he viewed himself and the world around him. It was the positive impact that was placed upon his life by various mentors along the way that helped him to recognize and understand the importance of mentorship.

All of us, have at some point needed a helping hand, or someone to show us a little grace along the way. The same is the case for our Juvenile/Youth justice involved population. In 2015, MPI became an official 501c3 organization. Since receiving its official non-profit status, MPI, through its various community partnerships, has been successful in making a direct impact in the lives of both Juveniles and Adult justice involved individuals that reside in various counties within Eastern NC. As we continue to move forward our goal is to not only address and reduce recidivism, but to also be catalyst of positive change in the lives of troubled Juvenile/Youth. We truly believe that our continued efforts will result in not only reducing our local crime rate but also result in a direct impact in the narrowing of the gateway connecting our Juvenile Justice and Adult prison systems.
